About the Author
Michel Gagne was born in Quebec, Canada. He studied animation at Sheridan College School of Visual Arts in Ontario, Canada and in 1985, began a highly successful artistic career.

Renowned for his unique vision, Michel has lent his talent to several animation companies, such as Don Bluth Studios, Warner Bros., Disney, Pixar, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, etc. His creative work can be seen in over twenty feature films including: The Iron Giant, Osmosis Jones, and Ratatouille. His short films, Prelude to Eden and Insanely Twisted Shadow Puppets, are favorites among animation students and teachers, and have played in festivals throughout the world. He was honored by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, with four Annie Award nominations. He continues to create animation, special effects and conceptual designs for companies all over the world.

Michel is also very active in the publishing world having written and illustrated a dozen books, as well as two ongoing comic series: ZED and The Saga of Rex. His work has been published by DC Comics, Image Comics, Random House as well as Michel's own imprint, GAGNE International Press.

Among his other creative endeavors, Michel has experimented in a variety of projects in various media including video games, art shows (paintings, sculptures and mixed-media), trading card games, etc.

Tagore is outstanding!

After learning about Tagore at the Art Institute in Chicago, I decided I had to read his writings. I have fallen in love with his poetry and am so happy that I have this book which allows me to read not only his poetry but his essays, stories, and plays. He's truly the most amazing writer I had never heard of!!

Tagore Deserves So Much Better

Oh boy, what a disappointment! The breadth of this endeavor was oh-so promising. But this volume will set back the reputation of the transcendent, genius poet Rabinadranath Tagore for a decade or two. The authors made the terrible mistake of FORCING Tagore's lines to rhyme in couplets rather than let his imagery flower in all its incomparable majesty. Instead of a display of constant genius we get thousands of rhymes worthy of the worst of high school poetry. For those new to Tagore, go for older volumes of his poetry, prose, and plays. Stay away from this travesty--a total whiff. What were they thinking; trying to show off their own cleverness? Tagore would slap them with a big, colorful, wet flower. Fail.

The author is careful to illustrate that the Germans were far from solely to blame for the War. In fact, their attempts to restrain Austria are contrasted with the French encouragement of Russia. This book appeared in the early 1930's, and it was time for a realistic assessment of the causes of the War. If only the author gave the earlier causes the same treatment he gives the later ones.

Superb, detailed analysis.

Sidney Fay's book, originally published in 1928, is as pertinent and useful today as it was then. He describes in detail the actions and personalities of the major figures of the day, with frequent quotes from biographies, reports, and above all the huge collections of documents published after the armistice, all of which he seems to have read and absorbed. Anyone trying to understand how the war came about would do much better to work through Fay than to depend on one of the easy-reading journalistic summaries that have come out recently.

if you had issues with intimacy and sexuality and need some daily guidance in learning new ways to create healthy sexuality in your life, this is the book for you. there are daily recommendations which when tried are guaranteed to help those who have never been successful at cultivating intimacy or those who are in relationships that want to strenghten or repair it to make it more satisfying and enduring. Especially cogent for people who have experienced infidelity, felt betrayed or just weren't exposed to healthy intimate relationships in their family of origin so they had poor examples for providing a healthy models essential to teaching the life lessons around sexuality and intimacy so crucial for forming healthy attitudes and practices for their primary relationships.

This book isn't just for those in recovery, but for anyone interested in self reflection about relationships, intimacy, and sexuality (regardless of sexual orientation). I really like the daily suggestions for things to do or questions to ask yourself/your partner, which makes it more interactive. It pushes you take things to a deeper, more connected place. I recommend it to all!

About the Author
Rachel Glennerster is executive director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kudzai Takavarasha holds degrees in chemical engineering and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and was a policy manager at J-PAL from 2004 to 2012.

Bought this for an M&E class. While the topic an be a bit dry and technical to a novice like me, I recognize that the author still did a good job in making the concepts understandable and engaging (as much as possible). I've read other related books and taken statistics, and generally the texts are more difficult and boring to read. Rachel Glennerster also has a blog based around the book, with online resources that I find interesting.

This book is fantastic. It is easy to read and delivers a very important message : randomizing is the key to statistically evaluate the impact of projects. The authors use many different examples of evaluations that help visualize ans understand the whole process.

Best guide for impact evaluations in international development

I work for USAID and I hope this book will be used to inform our staff about impact evaluations: when to use them and how to set them up so that they provide the precision needed and within a reasonable budget.
