The content of the book is outstanding--a "must have for anybody working with children with visual problems. However, the Kikndle version has no page numbers, and many of the tables and charts are hard to view, either because they are split between two pages or do not show up on certain computers. I recommend this book be bought in its hard copy format.

As a teacher of children with visual impairments, I have worked with many children who I had classified as having cortical visual impairments. However, through the information this book provides, I am now beginning to understand the wider complexity of the disability that the authors term as cerebral visual impairment. This book provides essential and valuable information that can be used by teachers, parents and other rehabilitation and habilitation specialists that support children with cerebral visual impairments. The book includes detailed explanation of the visual system and how it can be affected by damage to the brain, thorough assessment techniques to help establish diagnoses of cerebral visual impairment and strategies on how to overcome the disabling aspects of this condition. Throughout the book, the many contributing authors have provided real life examples with anecdotes from parents, adults and children who live with cerebral visual impairment. This book is essential reading for any professional working in the field of pediatrics.

Great guide to Reading in all subjects!

Daniels and Zemelman use humor, practical suggestions, and research to get their point across. If you are looking for NCA or NCLB interventions for improving reading in a specific or all content areas, this book has plenty of material! They include examples, book lists, and classroom best practices as well as discussion of the use or non-use of a textbook. These practices are known quantities, research-supported and all have been used by the authors or by those interviewed for this book. Ta-da, it's all in here!

Great read for teachers concerned with literacy

From the first chapter on I really enjoyed reading this book. The fact the authors are both educators allow them to include numerous anecdotes from their time spent inside and outside the classroom. Even though I am an English teacher I appreciated how this book covered all subjects.

The monks' realization of death underwrites key components of the Cambodian social imagination: the distinction between wild death and celibate life, the forest and the field, and moral and immoral forms of power. By connecting the performative aspects of Buddhist death rituals to Cambodian history and everyday life, Davis undermines the theory that Buddhism and rural belief systems necessarily oppose each other.
